Everyone’s life begins with the words, "Thank God!" From the day we are born, this phrase follows us until our last breath. I've often heard people say, "When creation exists, there must be a creator." Yes, we must agree. People need someone to take over their worries. Some prefer sharing everything with their friends, making them unwilling listeners. But the wiser choice is to keep God by your side—because He won't gossip about you, He won't call your stories boring, and He will always be there for you.
We consider temples as sacred places to find inner peace because "Silence is the key to happiness." When we step into a temple, we believe we are praying to God, sharing our worries and wishes with Him. But in reality, we are simply talking to our own souls, using the temple as a space and God as a mediator. The reason we feel relieved after leaving a temple is that we have expressed our burdens to ourselves. We feel confident, believing we have handed over all our troubles to God, and now, He will take care of everything.
Once we leave a temple or any spiritual place, we often feel like we have found answers to all our questions. And why not? After all, only the creator knows how to repair what is broken and solve what is unsolved.
But then, a question arises—who is God? What does He or She do? When I asked myself this, more questions surfaced: Who is God? Is it God, Goddess, or the Almighty? I couldn’t find the answer, so I started searching for it.
I have unwavering faith, but in what exactly? Do I believe in God, Goddess, or the Almighty? I didn’t want to believe blindly, so I decided to search for the truth. To do that, I needed to meet someone truly wise in this matter.
I initially struggled to get any answers. Later, I didn't take any significant steps toward this search, but something unexpected happened.
One day, while crossing the road, I met an old man in my neighborhood who was in great need. I decided to speak with him. As I approached, he lifted his head to look at me. I asked, "What do you need?"
He smiled and said, "I'm very expensive in my own way. How much can you afford to give and move on?"
His response intrigued me. I replied, "Oh! You're so expensive? Is that why no one wants to buy you new clothes, and you’re wearing torn ones?"
He just smiled. I continued our conversation, asking him many questions. He answered each one wisely. Finally, I asked, "Who is the creator? How should I address Him? And what do you think about God?"
He began narrating a story, and I was excited to listen.
The Story
A boy and a girl were deeply in love. They planned a vacation together, and the boy wanted to play a little game with her. He was waiting for the right moment.
As they reached their destination and started walking, the girl said, "I'm very grateful to the Almighty because you are with me. I need you in my life forever."
This was the boy’s chance to challenge her belief. He said, "Who is this Almighty? There is no such thing! The only thing that exists is God, the supreme power."
But the girl held firm. She argued passionately, defending her belief. Their debate continued until she said,
"Okay, not far from here, there’s a temple. When I had the same question, I went there, and I got my answer. You should go there too and find yours. But remember, I'll wait here until you return!"
The boy agreed. "Yeah, sure!" he said and left for the temple.
At the temple, he stood before the deity and cried out, "I started this argument as a joke, but now it's driving me crazy! Please help me find the truth. Who are you? Tell me!"
Suddenly, he heard the voice of an angel.
Angel: "My dear!"
Boy: "Who’s there? Please don’t scare me!"
Angel: "I am the voice of your thoughts! I am not here to scare you."
Boy: "I need clarity!"
Angel: "Alright! Walk to the end of this street without noticing anything. But while returning, observe everything carefully. Then come back and share what you saw."
The boy agreed and walked forward without paying attention. But on his way back, he noticed three things:
A group of people crying over someone’s death.
A pregnant woman being rushed into a hospital.
A wedding celebration filled with joy and laughter.
He reached the temple and shouted, "I'm back! I saw nothing extraordinary! Where are you?"
Angel: "Tell me, what did you see?"
Boy: "Someone had died, and people were crying. Then I saw a pregnant woman in a hospital. And lastly, I saw a happy wedding celebration. But what does it mean?"
Angel: "The first scene shows that I am present in sorrow. I do not exist only in happiness.
The second scene—a pregnant woman in pain—reminds us that pain leads to immense joy. I exist in pain too.
The third scene—a wedding—proves that happiness spreads, and I am there in that joy as well.
I am a mix of all emotions. When creativity ceases, no one remains a creator. I am present in everything. For nature, humans are everything. For humans, nature is everything. It is all about your perspective."
Angel: "Now, return to the girl who is still waiting for you. That’s called belief, and I exist in belief too."
Boy: "Thank you! I now understand. You exist in my emotions. You are my soul, my tears, my happiness. You are my Almighty!"
The boy ran back to the girl and said, "You were right. It is the Almighty, not just God or Goddess!"
The girl smiled and replied, "Who said that? It’s called GOD!"
Boy: "WHAT?!"
The old man laughed and said, "The boy and girl never reached a conclusion. It's all about perception. If you provide me with food today, you are my God. If nature provides me with something, then it is the Almighty. Believe and move on!"
His words left me deep in thought.
If we don’t find God in people, where else are we going to find Him?
The Almighty is everywhere, and God is within my heart.
