Who Decides Your Happiness?
If you ask people, "Who decides your happiness?" they will confidently say, "Me!" without hesitation. But step a little deeper into their lives, and you’ll easily see who truly controls their happiness.
The reality is, very few people in this universe truly find self-happiness.
Psychology says that if you go to a get-together and don’t order the food you actually want—because your friend ordered it, and you think, "I’ll just share from them instead"—that’s a form of unhappiness.
Some people cry just because their friend is crying. What kind of emotional bonding is that? I don’t get it.
Now, imagine this:
You're all set to leave for work, dressed and ready, and then—you notice your bike has a flat tire. Suddenly, your face looks like someone who has to eat food cooked by their house help instead of their mom’s cooking. That rubber wheel ruins your entire day, even though it doesn’t deserve that power.
The funny thing is, we are the ones who allow these small things to steal our happiness.
In this fast-moving world, the one thing we get without any effort is tension!
At lunchtime, I open my box in front of my colleagues, hoping to find something exciting. Instead, I see Poha—again! My mom’s love is inside the box, but not inside me. That single moment decides my mood for the whole day… until I eat it with a smiling face.
Why does this happen?
Because we give space for everything in life—except for our own happiness!
Comfort Zone vs. Happiness
If you prioritize your comfort zone, you’re automatically losing your happiness.
It’s like going to a live comedy show but choosing the last-row seat for a “better view.” Your comfort zone tells you about the view, but it doesn’t tell you whether you’ll be able to hear the jokes properly!
We live in an interlocked society.
I live in an independent country, yet my happiness depends on others. I can’t be truly happy unless my mom and dad are happy. That’s how I was raised.
If someone tells my parents, "Your son/daughter is a great dancer or singer," guess what? I’ll have to perform at home until the next compliment comes!
Am I really enjoying myself?
No. I’m just acting to make my parents happy. Because I’m emotionally weak.
I once thought about screaming in the middle of the night—just for fun. But I couldn’t. Society would call me crazy and throw me out.
So, here too, I lost my happiness.
Where Can I Find My Happiness?
If you laugh, I have to laugh.
If I laugh alone, society will give me an awkward label.
And I’m scared of that label. Here, I lost my happiness again.
The Two Days We Waste
I had a fight with my friend and didn’t talk to them for two days. Those two days were miserable.
Then, when we made up, we ate spicy, delicious Biryani together.
I’ve heard this story from so many people, and I always think—
Hey, fellow mate, why did you waste two days of your life?
Why did you give the key to your happiness to your friend?
Who Really Suffers?
When I was sick, my mom suffered.
When I failed an exam, my teacher suffered.
When I didn’t do my tuition work, my tutor suffered.
When I was physically unfit, my girlfriend suffered.
After seeing all this, I suffered!
Ouch!!! I killed everyone’s happiness… but not mine.
Because guess what? KFC chicken brought it back!
(That’s also the reason for my bad physical fitness. 😆)
The Funny Part About Happiness
Maybe happiness only exists when you pronounce it with a laughing face—
HEEEE!
I’M HAPPYYYYY!!!! 😄
One day, I went to my mom and said, "Mom, I’m not happy."
She thought I was mentally ill.
She took me to the doctor. The doctor said, "Do meditation."
She took me to a guru. The guru said, "Close your eyes and sit. You can even sleep. That’s meditation."
I felt like dying.
What was my problem?
Now, society has branded me as a sleep disorder patient!
The Conclusion?
I wanted to end this story by saying, "Finding self-happiness is the key to being the happiest person in the world."
But now, even that’s not possible—because I lost my happiness after writing this!
So, the only way to be happy…
Don’t let others share the effort you put into being happy.
Let everyone find their own way to happiness.
This universe is designed in a way that every individual has a unique quality.
Let’s explore our own qualities and spread love.
Do Many Things, Expect Nothing—That’s the Path to Happiness! 💙
